This is a two-part seminar series.
APCH’S FIELD RESCUE – Part One is a PowerPoint Class that aims to introduce individuals to basic methods used to safely contain dangerous style birds who require rescue. This includes injured, sick or orphaned birds who need a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator’s assistance. This class is the first step to the process and helps individuals to better understand the defenses used by many wild birds and the best ways to safely assess the situation before physically attempting a rescue for the safety of all involved. This is not a hands-on experience. Our goal is to help people remain safe by sharing critical knowledge regarding the containment/transport of a distressed bird without causing additional harm or stress to rescuer or victim. Once attendees complete APCH’S FIELD RESCUE – Part One, a second class will take place at A Place Called Hope in Killingworth, where individuals will witness a live demonstration and dive a bit deeper into the process. You will also learn basic transport guidelines which will help to lessen stress for any rescued animal/bird. Volunteering at a center as a follow up to APCH’S FIELD RESCUE – Part One/Two is highly recommended so that everyone gets the necessary experience prior to handling a potentially dangerous crisis.
