Rodenticide Poisoning Cases

Monday, April 24, 2023

The American Bald Eagle from New Hartford, CT has resulted POSITIVE for TWO of the ingredients of Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide Poisons. This ties up 54 specimens tested to date resulting with 45 POSITIVES for one or more of the ingredients involved in Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide Poisons. This is the stuff used by the Professionals and licensed applicators that are put into the bait boxes you see EVERYWHERE. Keep in mind, it does not matter WHO applies them, it is WHAT is being applied. This deadly method needs to be banned. Support SB 962 with stronger verbiage to ban the use and the sale of SGARS in CT. Please continue to write your legislators to let them know how you feel. Our Nation’s Symbol of Freedom has died because of the poor choice method of applying poisons to manage rodents.

Enough is enough.

It’s over now. The American National Symbol of Freedom is free from his struggles. May he soar high and far from us humans. We lost this adult, male, Bald Eagle to Anticoagulant Rodenticides since these potent, profitable, poisons are still legal in CT and across our nation. Making these ingredients Registered Use Products won’t stop this increase in non-targeted animals becoming victims. These poor choice methods don’t discriminate. It does not matter who ingests them, they will succumb to the same fate. Nor does it matter WHO applies them. It’s still poison. Our hearts are broken yet again as we are helpless in our attempts to save their lives. So many lives lost. To date, APCH has now submitted, including this eagle who will be delivered tomorrow for testing, 56 specimens. We have 43 results and 13 tests still pending. Out of the 43 results, 36 have tested positive for one or more of the ingredients that make up Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide poisons. It is time to make this stop. We have reached CRISIS status. Ban SGARS. Why is this even up for discussion? How can anyone not see?
